Traveling to Mexico was a dream realized. My husband, our two kids, and I were having the time of our lives – just thinking about it brought immense joy to my heart. However, upon our arrival, my husband’s actions made me question his feelings for me. He wouldn’t take any photos with me, which left me feeling confused, and discovering the truth shattered my heart.
As we landed in Mexico, I was certain we would have an unforgettable time. Just days before our trip, I found out that I had inherited money and property from my uncle, and I intended to share this news with Luke during our vacation.
But then, his persistent refusal to take any pictures of me raised a significant concern.
Whenever I asked him to do that, he would respond, “Not now, Hannah,” or “I’m not in the mood to take pictures right now, maybe later.”
It was odd because snapping a photo only took a few seconds – time that Luke wasn’t willing to give me.
This continued for days, and then finally, he left his phone on the bed, unlocked, while he took a shower.
Invading his privacy felt wrong, but I desperately needed to understand if there was a reason behind Luke’s actions.
And then, there it was, a message in the group chat with his friends.
“Can you believe it, guys? At her weight, she still expects me to take pictures of her,” he had typed. “Where in the picture would she even fit? Since having the baby, she has changed entirely.”
Those words broke my heart. I had no clue my husband held such a low opinion of my looks.
Without a moment’s hesitation, I snapped a photo of myself and shared it online with the caption, “Is my appearance so unappealing that even my husband is hesitant to take my picture?”
Before long, I was flooded with supportive comments and messages.
When Luke exited the bathroom and noticed my post, he acted as if he had no idea why I took that action, so I brought up the messages he sent to his friends.
“Just so you know, I’ve inherited my uncle’s property and assets, which means I’m relocating to his house and ending our relationship,” I stated.
I simply couldn’t remain with someone who considered my looks unappealing.
Upon hearing about the inheritance, he began to apologize, but I was aware that his remorse was motivated by the financial aspect.
I gathered my bags, took my kids, and we departed from home, leaving Luke behind.
I’m uncertain about what the future has in store for me and my children, but I’m sure that being with someone like Luke isn’t what I deserve.
